Bongobongo Commitment
Gambling is an exciting adult leisure activity, and at Bongobongo Uganda, we want our customers to enjoy betting and gaming with us. We are dedicated to providing an efficient, secure, fair, and socially responsible service. To achieve this, we have implemented several measures to assist and reassure our customers.
Preventing Underage Gambling
Gambling under the age of 25 is a criminal offense, and Bongobongo takes its responsibility to prevent access by under-18s very seriously. We conduct thorough age verification checks across all our businesses.
Parental Controls
Bongobongo employs advanced age verification systems and procedures to minimize the risk of underage customers accessing our online services. However, we also recommend that parents and guardians using a shared family computer install filtering software to restrict internet access for children and minors.
There are several parental filtering solutions available to monitor or restrict internet access:
- www.netnanny.com – Filtering software that protects children from inappropriate web content.
- www.cybersitter.com – Filtering software that allows parents to add custom sites to block.
- www.saferinternet.org – A website co-funded by the European Union, offering comprehensive information about internet filter software and a free test version.
If you know someone under the age of 18 who is registered with Bongobongo, please contact us immediately here.
Setting Daily/Weekly Spending Limits
We provide a Deposit Limit feature that allows you to set a limit on the amount of money you can deposit into your account daily or weekly. You can decrease these limits at any time, but any increase will only take effect 24 hours after the request. To change your deposit limits, click on “my account” and then on the “details” tab.
Keeping track of your transactions
You can easily access a full history of transactions, withdrawals, and deposits through the “My Account” section. Your balance is always available in “My Account” and on the Bongobongo home page. You can view your transaction history online for the current and previous year. For older transactions, please contact Customer Services.
Staff training and Awareness
All our management and customer service staff receive training to increase awareness of problem gambling issues.
Staying in Control
While most people gamble within their means, for some, gambling can become a problem. To help you stay in control, remember the following:
- Gambling should be entertaining and not viewed as a way to make money.
- Avoid chasing losses.
- Only gamble what you can afford to lose.
- Keep track of the time and money you spend on gambling.
If you are worried that gambling may have taken over your life (or someone else’s), the following questions might help you determine this:
- Do you skip work, college, or school to gamble?
- Do you gamble to escape from a boring or unhappy life?
- When you run out of money while gambling, do you feel lost and desperate, needing to gamble again as soon as possible?
- Do you gamble until your last penny is gone, even using money meant for the fare home or a cup of tea?
- Have you ever lied about the amount of money or time you spend gambling?
- Have others ever criticized your gambling?
- Have you lost interest in your family, friends, or hobbies?
- After losing, do you feel compelled to win back your losses as soon as possible?
- Do arguments, frustrations, or disappointments make you want to gamble?
- Do you feel depressed or even suicidal because of your gambling?
The more you answer “yes” to these questions, the more likely it is that you have a serious gambling problem.
Self Exclusion
Self Exclusion is a service we offer to assist customers who feel their gambling is out of control and need help to stop. By entering a self-exclusion agreement with Bongobongo, you will be unable to use your account for a period you choose, ranging from 6 months to 5 years. For more information, please read our Self Exclusion article.
